⚙️ Fairfield Students Take on the K’Nex Design Challenge!

Posted Date: 03/04/26 (09:56 AM)

FASD elementary and middle school students recently put their technical skills to the test! Tasked with a complex design-and-build mission, Fairfield teams stepped up to engineer the factories of the future.
🛠️ The Challenge:

  • Functioning Prototypes: Students designed and built working sections of a factory using K’Nex and Engino components.
  • Operational Efficiency: The goal was to create a machine that maximized output and demonstrated smooth, streamlined mechanical movement.
  • Resource Management: Teams had to show how their machines could function while simulating the use of specific parts and materials to keep the factory running effectively.
  • Full-Scale Design: Beyond the machinery, students constructed entire factory environments, including signage and background settings, to provide a complete visual of their production process.
It was incredible to see the level of mechanical detail and creative problem-solving our Fairfield students brought to the table!
